Bottom of the Bag Contest!

Win this bag from our friends at Roots

Since April is spring cleaning month at goodkin, we have created a contest that will intrigue lovers of purses and "manbags" alike, and we're calling it "The Bottom of the Bag Contest."

In the spirit of spring, we love to talk abut cleaning our insides and outsides, but the truth is, nothing collects as much clutter, lint, wrappers, coins and debris as the modern handbag. We all pull out things that surprise us from time to time, be it a lost treasure like the earring you haven't seen since that crazy holiday party, enough change to go to the movies, or a lint covered pacifier (hopefully, you have the child it belongs to.)

Here's your chance to clean your act up.

Simply comment below about the craziest, weirdest, oddest thing you've ever pulled out of your handbag, and you will be entered to win a Megan Bag, donated by our friends at Roots. At the end of the month, we will pick a winner randomly.

This stylish bag is perfect to take out at night and has enough storage to keep all of your essentials within easy reach. It features:

For some reasons, I pulled out a lot of old dirty napkins and kleenex in my bag. I probably forgot to throw them out when I'm not using it. I also found rip up papers in my bag, too. It's yucky!!
Yuck! I've totally been there Kammi!
A recently found a skewer from a cocktail party I had attended months ago. Assuming I stuffed it in there just before being introduced to someone. What does a lady at a cocktail party do with a glass in one hand and food in another?
I just now looked and found a bracelet made of wooden Chinese good luck beads that my mother gave me around the time of my college graduation last spring. I didn't wear it, but since it is for "good luck" I guess I couldn't throw it away, either.
At a State Radio concert, I whipped out a Thundercloud sandwhich that I had stored previously for when I needed a snack. And then I ate it.
My sister recently pulled out an unopened can of Diet Coke which she hadn't realized she'd been carrying around! You can imagine the size/weight of her purse!
I once saw my Great Aunt pull a hammer and screwdriver out of her handbag. The best is that this seemed to be totally logical to her. And it was handy!
A container of mealworms, yes, mealworms. I have a pet Gecko that eats worms and when I go to the pet store to buy them than have to run other errands I can't leave them in the hot car, so in the purse they go. So imagine the look on the clerks face at Macys when I pull them out searching for my wallet to pay for my nice, pretty outfit! She didn't find it amusing. LOL
I found a free admission ticket to the Joy Theatre Christmas show, and some fake tickets for a game I made up when I was 7.
There is a zipper at the bottom of my zip up purse.
1) Rat medicine (banana flavored) 2) Tiny, fluffy toy chicken inside tiny plastic ball (I've had this in my purse for two years. I occasionally find it on accident and I always put it back)
a corkscrew and 12 dog biscuits!
sipppy cup of juice that had slowly leaked all over the bottom of the purse! I also have the movie stub from the first movie I saw with my husband when we were dating.
My dad died about a year and a half ago. I still have one of his old prescription bottles in my purse, with two pills left in it.
Really? I am surprised you also don't have a bag of his ashes in there too, my classy little sister! Cate says she REALLY needs to win that bag! She's obsessed.
Legos, Legos, and more Legos.
a melted nikon f60 camera... i was in a production meeting and my purse lay in plain view on my desk. we heard a distant phone ring when all of a sudden, 5 foot flames leaped out of my handbag, burning my wallet, petty cash, cell phone as well as the f60. sprinklers went off, firemen arrived and it was decided my zippo ignited when the phone rang. try explaining that to your insurance company!
The oddest thing I ever pulled from my handbag was the teething ring my daughter used... 17 years ago. I can't bear to part with it. Silly, I suppose but it means a lot to me! outofthemist @ gmail .com (remove spaces)
Newborn size diapers - our boys are 8 months and are in size 3!
With 4 kids, there are always miscellaneous items pulled out of my bag, that have often been neglected amongst all the "stuff". Crushed crackers that spilled out of snack bags and merged with other sticky items - common discovery!
the strangest thing I've pulled out of my handbag was after a typical evening at our local bar, I went to work the next day and found a plate, fork, knife, spoon, and a ketchup bottle that my friends had placed in each pocket, trying to make a statement about the size of my bag! I returned the items the following day!
Newborn sized diaper (unused) - our boys are now 8 months and in size 3!!
pulled out memory stick cover in gum. Once cleaned up found pictures that forgot about
A tiny gecko. [I lived in Costa Rica at the time.]
I ahve pulled out melted Christmas candy that my kids had put in my purse for safe keeping...it was melted because of the warm spring days...
I pulled out a candy that was stuck to the bottom of my purse. It was probably dropped in their by one of my kids when they didn't want it anymore!! YUCK!!!!
The weirdest thing I can remember ever pulling out of my handbag was an ear of corn and an umbrella! To make a long story short - I went to a corn festival in small-town Ohio and it had been raining. =)
In my purse I found a lollipop stuck to the bottom of my purse. It was probably dropped in their by one of my kids when they didn't want it anymore. YUCK!!!!
The strangest thing I ever pulled out of my purse was a pink hair extension ... and that was this morning!
On Any given day you can reach into my bag and find an assortment of suckers, baby wipes, socks, mittens, work files, lip gloss or hair clips/elastics. Guess that might be normal stuff for a working mom of two preschool-aged girls ... although my non-parent friends think it's a little strange...
I had kept this mint from a restaurant in which I had a great time with my boyfriend. I didn't want to eat it, but kept it as a memento of our dinner. After a few months, I found the mint again at the bottom of my handbag, in its semi-melted state. I finally had to eat it and reminisce about that night.
Strangest thing would be a handful of ferret food. When my ferrets are out they love to hide their food, unfortunately it is always hidden in my purse or shoes.
The weirdest thing I pulled out of my purse was some foreign money that belong to a place I've never visited! It doesn't even look like currency we use here in N. America.
Being a mom of 4 boys, I've pulled out steristrips and bandage tape that I forgot was in there....and a handful of ooze which was the remnant of the antibiotic ointment....LOL...
The weirdest thing I've ever pulled out of my handbag was a phallic shaped wine bottle opener, which my roommate had chucked in whilst I was in the toilet and shouted at her to 'pack me a wine bottle opener' before I left for a party. Needless to say, I was very embarrassed.
Once I pulled out a squirrel
The oddest thing I've pulled out of my bag has to be an old roll of camera film from about six years ago.. still haven't had it developed so I have no idea what's even on it.
Probably cat treats... dried cat treats! I guess a few fell out of the package and of course got hard! They were seafood flavored too!!!! :-(
I was just getting over the flu once and had to travel out of town. I had a little random bag of necessities like gravol and aspirin just in case and also a small spray bottle of Glade Ultra. haha I always keep it one in my handbag because you never know when you might have 'to go'. Gross, I know it is handy! haha
a shoe horn, a magnet that says "One Tough Cookie" and 11 pens.
A couple of years ago I was in a crazy poptart faze, and it continued throughout my time at university. So one day I left a poptart in one of the pockets, a year or so later, I reach into that purse. Found that something gooey I felt. Well I look in, and it was a strawberry poptart that had blown up (literally) in one of the pockets, and till this day cannot get the stawberry filling out of it!
A used hockey mouth guard. It has yet to be claimed...
A shamwow. I wasn't supposed to leave it in there, but it sure did come in handy!
Fishing lures! (they were in a small Tupperware container so no injuries occurred, but still)
Fishing lures! (they were in a small Tupperware container so no injuries occurred, but still)
There's a list, but the strangest was when I was going to pay for something and instead of finding my wallet I found a stuffed lobster staring at me. I left the wallet next to the computer when I paid for something online and I hid the lobster (one of my dog's favourite toys) in the purse because it squeaks and I had a migraine a few days before. Nothing like having a laughing breakdown in Crabtree & Evelyn and having to ask your friend to pay for your shampoo due to crustacean issues!
A bottle containing my wisdow teeth. A couple weeks after my extraction.
I have actually pulled many weird things out of my purse. But just a few of them have been squished mints, melted gum (yes it was melted) and melted chocolate (which was a pain to clean up)!!!!
Someone elses wallet (a man's wallet). My purse was in a closet at a party and I'm hoping someone accidently tossed their wallet into what they thought was there wife's/girlfriend's bag but ended up in mine....alternatively I drank too much and stolen it....hmmm. This bag looks big enough to hold all sorts of things!
75 packets of splenda... i've been collecting them everywhere i go :)
