Many tools invented by human to ease human work. As the modern age approach and human gain more experience and knowledge, they start making appliance to make human work simpler. Among those many inventions, hairdryer is one of many tools used by human these days. The benefit of hair dryer is not only to dry wet hair faster and more effectively, but can also be used to style and making hair look neat and properly. Some people may call this tool hair dryer, and some may call it blow dryer. In this article we will explain about this tool, whether they are the same or not.

Hair dryer or blow dryer was first invented by a French stylist named Alexander Godefroy back in the 1890. The first hair dryer was a large, seated version that consisted of a bonnet which attached to the chimney pipe of a gas stove. The first invention of hair dryer by Godefoy is used in his salon in France, it was not portable and could only be used by having someone sit underneath it. In 1911 an American Armenian named Gabriel Kazanjian was the first to patent blow dryer in America. In the 1915, the handheld version of hair dryers began marketed. This was due to innovations made by National Stamping Electronics under the white cross brand, and not long after that U.S Racine universal motor company and the Hamilton Beach Co., that hair dryer become small enough to be able to be handheld by human.

The first handheld hair dryer were pretty heavy and hard to handle them. Their approximate weight was 0.9 pounds, this hair dryer also have many downside such as, overheating and electrocution. Hair dryer at that time only able to use 100 watts electricity, which increased the amount of time needed to dry the hair, these days hair dryers are capable using up to 2000 watts. After that, the improvement of hair dryer mainly focused on improving the wattage and superficial exterior and material changes. By the 1960 the hair dryer improves dramatically. Hair dryers of the 1960s were made from a more lightweight materials than their previous generation. Also the new hairdryer were capable of producing up to 500 watts of heat. This advancement are made possible by the improvement made in electric motors used in hair dryers.

There are several things you need to consider when you want to buy hair dryers. First, consider the wattage, high wattage motor packs more wind power and will cut down your styling time without exposing hair to excessive heat. Second, whether the hairdryer use ionic or not, the ionic hair dryers can give negative ions, water’s ion are reacts positively at busting up and scattering water droplets on the hair shaft, preventing them from soaking in and causing frizz, it also able to speed up the drying time. The downside is that this ionic type may resulting on a flat and oily hair. Third, the hairdryer which made with ceramic, porcelain, or titanium, these material are used to distribute the heat evenly keeping the temperature steady. Before buying hair dryer or blow dryers you also need to consider your hair type, it is recommended if you have curly and wavy hair textures choose the one with diffuser at the low heat setting. This method can give a lift to the hair and release a gentle, indirect stream of warm air that is not overpowering, so the curls won’t become tangled, frizzy and unmanageable. In the other hand if you have straight or softly waved hair, choose the one with a concentrators. This will give a direct and focus air output when styling to control frizz and style outcome. It is also highly recommended to use heat protectant product first before using hair dryer or blow dryer.

For men blow drying also give lots benefit for example, when using pomade, you should be styling your hair in a dry state, hair dryer and blow dryer can easily do the job and more effectively than using towels. Using blow dryer also can straighten up the hair and make it easier to style. Blow drying also can add volume to the hair, so you can make different styles.

According to some definition which are pretty unclear, blow dryer is a tools used to dry any part of the body, while the hairdryer is strictly the object which have the purpose to dry hair. From the pressure aspect blow dryer may have more pressurized air if compare to hair dryer, and the temperature of hair dryer is usually less than blow dryer. The true difference between blow dryer and hair dryer may only lay on which region this appliance is used. People from the United States called it as blow dryer, while people from United Kingdom and Commonwealth country referring it as hair dryer.
