What is a Daypack?

A daypack is typically small and light. It usually has a capacity between 600 cubic inches to 2,500 cubic inches. It is designed to carry a load between 20 to 25 pounds. The smaller models are suitable for personal use, whereas the larger ones are ideal for winter hikes and when you want to carry other people’s gear. There are various kinds of backpack. Basically, a backpack is a pack that you carry on your back. There are many things that can fall into this category, including daypacks, book packs, travel packs, and camera packs. However, in the context of hiking and backpacking, a backpack usually refers to a larger pack which can carry all your items for a longer trip. Backpacks are used for multi-day or overnight trips, winter trips, and any trip that requires extra gear.

Features of a Backpack
A backpack for hiking or backpacking always has two shoulder straps and a waist belt. On many models, the shoulder straps and waist belt are padded to enhance the comfort. A backpack is much larger, with a capacity between 2,500 cubic inches to 6,000 cubic inches or even more.

A backpack usually has more features, such as external straps for carrying a sleeping bag or a tent or even additional compartments for foods and clothes. A backpack almost always has a frame, whether it is a plastic internal frame, a framesheet, or an aluminum external frame.
