Book Review: She Looks Just Like You

She Looks Just Like You book

She Looks Just Like You: A Memoir of (Nonbiological Lesbian) Motherhood by Amie Klempnauer Miller caught my eye in a local bookstore, but I had no idea exactly what was in store for me. This “memoir of non-biological lesbian motherhood” took me on an emotional journey that brought back my own memories, fears, paranoia, and uncertainties of being a first time mother.

The "Little Lulu" Mystique

Little Lulu, created by Marge Buell in 1935, has been a part of my life since I took my five-year-old daughter, Ava to Meltdown, an impressive comic book shop on the Sunset Strip. We needed to buy a gift for a friend of hers, and were looking for something off the beaten path of Target and Toys-R-Us. I thought that Meltdown would be a fun place to check out.

Guji Guji by Chih-Yuan Chen

Guji Guji is a book that should not be missed if you have a young child (pre-school to grade 3). It is gorgeously hand-painted, in hues of greys, blues and earthy yellows and reds that give it the feeling of a classic but also make it distinct.

Book Review: The Adventures of Cow & The Adventures of Cow Too

Never has being wrong ever felt so right. In Lori Korchek's two winning children's books, The Adventure of Cow, and The Adventure's of Cow Too, little kids get a big dose of interaction and progressive culture in its very purest form. You see, Cow, our guide on this journey of errors, is just a little squish toy that can fit in the palm of your hand. You've seen the type, a fifty cent give-away you can find in a bin at a toy store. Ms. Korchek brings it to life, however, by placing it by the side of living animals and actually humanizing it.
