Eames Elephant

A Mid-Century Modern Charles and Ray Eames elephant available at Hive Modern.

If you don't know who Charles and Ray Eames are, well, that's ok...just come out from that rock you've been living under and live a little. If you do know something about the history of Mid-Century Modern design, you'll know that this little gem is something you must have for your little ones (if you don't have little ones...no worries, you're hip and you'll want to get one anyway.)

The "Little Lulu" Mystique

Little Lulu, created by Marge Buell in 1935, has been a part of my life since I took my five-year-old daughter, Ava to Meltdown, an impressive comic book shop on the Sunset Strip. Parent's Guide To Anime

Even if you are not an anime fan (you should be, but that’s another story), chances are you have heard of Hayao Miyazaki, the understated master behind Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle and last year’s Ponyo.

Basics on Wood and Natural Toys

The popularity of wooden and naturally made toys has noticeably increased in the past several years. The most obvious reason for this interest is the lead scares from toys made in China. While avoiding contaminated toys is a great reason to search out more natural toys, the benefits do not end there.

Cld u pls pss the bred?

NPR recently reported that children are spending on average of 53 hours a week on electric media. At the end of the report the announcer advised listeners to go to NPR’s website for more information. This is more than a little ironic. We are concerned about our children’s use of media, but rarely consider the ways in which we are constantly being cajoled to click on this, embed this on our homepage, download this podcast.
